Argentina Team Update #10

Day Nine

“Did that storm wake you up?” I had no idea what Chris was talking about. Apparently, there was a massive storm that blew over top of us during the night and woke Chris up around 03:00 a.m. There was lightning and thunder that “shook the whole house.” Nope, I don’t think that happened because I slept all night like a baby. Chris said it was an impressive storm nonetheless and had a great time watching it.

We had a slow morning with coffee and fellowship followed by a trip to Rosario where we visited a monument to the location where the Argentinian flag was flown for the first time. Then we enjoyed walking down the boardwalk, looking for marketplaces, and finally arriving at a restaurant. On the table, there was a saltshaker with coffee beans in it. Not sure what that was about and I chalked it up to not being familiar with the culture. We had a great lunch overlooking the river and then headed back to San Nicolas.

We attended the church service at the Children’s home tonight and met the other missionary team from Minnesota who was helping out at the home. It was odd hearing other people speaking English! I snapped a picture of a few of us during the service and chuckled at the hurried angle of the photo. Yes, I understand that it probably was not as sneaky as I thought it would be. I could tell it was obnoxious by the side glance and glare from Darren. But, I wanted to share that many of us had brought collard shirts and were looking pretty fancy even after 10 days. We were called up on stage and introduced to the congregation. They also prayed for us, which was great. After the service, we had a great dinner in the cafeteria and chatted with the other missionary team and Sunrise staff.
