Greece 2 Team – Update #8

(blog & pictures from teammate Kathleen Ahlfors)

As I write this, our “Greece 2 Team” has now been here for 8 days and we have finished our first week at camp working with Eurorelief organization to serve the POC’s (aka “people of concern”, or residents).

The work has been personally fulfilling for me as we have interacted with the residents who have shown with their eyes, smiles, and gestures their thankfulness.

Whether we are providing blankets and hygiene items, or tickets so they can get clothing & diapers, or serving in the food lines providing meals and milk for the children, or interacting with the children and playing Uno (and various other activities) during library hours … you feel they are grateful and appreciative of the acts of kindness we seek to extend to them.

All of this is truly heartwarming, and we have a sense of fulfillment as we return home many days a little tired, hot, and sweaty to share our sweet stories with each other.
