Romania Team – Update #3

We are in Medgidia, Romania!
The flight from Chicago to Frankfurt was long and uneventful … right up until about 30 minutes before we landed, when the flight attendants served a last round of coffee and drinks. We were all just beginning to sip our beverages when we hit a bad pocket of turbulence: the plane went up, and then very quickly down, so that those of us holding cups watched our arms go straight up in the air and then the contents of our cups come spilling down into our laps (for those of us drinking coffee, this was particularly startling). But we landed safely! Our flight from Frankfurt to Bucharest, Romania was very tiring, as most of us had been up for more than 24 hours at that point with minimal sleep along the way – it did not help that the flight experienced a baggage issue, causing a very confusing traffic jam in the aisles as many of us were required to check our carry-ons. Then we heard a sound like a dying motor, and we were told by the captain that the auxiliary power had gone out and that it would need to be restarted. Many exhausted prayers went out from our teammembers requesting that we would NOT have to switch planes, and yes, the Lord got us safely to Bucharest without switching to a different plane.
The Romanian leaders from the church in Medgidia met us outside the baggage claim (none of our bags were lost!!) and welcomed us warmly, giving hugs to our teammembers who were returning and exchanging introductions with our teammembers who were there for the first time. We piled into two vans and stopped at a mall in Bucharest for food and anything else we might need before driving 2 hours to Medgidia. We were finally able to lie down, and despite the 90+ degree weather most of us were able to get some of the sleep we desperately needed; enough to wake up ready to go on Saturday morning – thank you for your prayers! We were served a wonderful breakfast at the church, had a quick meeting to discuss some plans for the camp that had changed, and now we have returned to the church for lunch and to meet with the Romanian leaders.
Please pray for our planning and for flexibility for any more changes we will have to make; please pray especially for the adjustments we will need to make to accommodate a Beginner English class that will be much larger than expected. Continuing prayers for our energy would also be greatly appreciated.
