Romania Team – Update #4

(Inside the church in Medgidia)
Last night both the Romanian leaders and our team sat down to go over the camp itinerary, and ended the meeting by praying over the names of the students who had signed up. The care and concern the people at Betleem (the Medgidian church) have for these students is evident and shows Christ so clearly.
This morning at 10:00 AM we went to the service at Betleem; we were given headsets and a translator translated the entire service into English for us. It was a 2-hour service, so it was quite a lot of translating – she did an amazing job! The worship time during the service, however, needed no translating; many of the songs were familiar to us and we were able to sing along using the English words. The pastor called us up to the stage to introduce us to the congregation and to ask them all to pray for the camp … the way they pray here in Romania is incredibly moving. The entire congregation prays aloud, some quietly, some loudly, and the church fills with the sound of their voices. The service ended with three baptisms, which we were privileged to witness.
There were many reunions between our repeat Romania team members and the people at the church they had built relationships with; some will be students at the camp, and some we have already had to say goodbye to. There is an air of excitement mixed with exhaustion as we prepare to leave for camp tomorrow, but now we can put a few faces to the students we will be ministering to, and that puts a whole new perspective on everything.
Please pray for the first day of camp tomorrow! Pray for the students to get settled in well and for us to make good connections with them, and most importantly that they will be moved to make decisions for Christ and that they will be able to get connected with Betleem or another good church that will help them grow in their new faith.
