Serve

As followers of Jesus, each of us have been given gifts and passions that are for the purpose of serving and building up the church. Through serving at Good Shepherd, we get the opportunity to both love our church family with our gifts and engage in relationship alongside them as we all participate in the life of the church. Join one of our many teams and get involved now! We would love for you to participate in the life of Good Shepherd’s community by being a part of one of our amazing teams or serving

Weekend Service Production

Use your technical skills for the glory of God! For those who are talented at music, lighting, and stage production, join our team to help guide and lead others into an authentic worship experience.

Connect Team

Be a part of a team that desires to give people next steps in order to be connected in relationship and get involved in the life of the church. Help invite people into our community gatherings by creating a welcoming environment as an Usher, Greeter, or Parking Attendant, engaging people in relationship through Hospitality, and answering questions at the Welcome Center.

Buildings and Grounds Team

For all of those hands on, fix-it type people, here is an opportunity to do that for the glory of God in our church community. Be involved in the maintenance and upkeep of our beautiful building and property, giving us a space that we are proud to call our church.

Kids Ministry

Love and care for kids while walking with children as they begin their journey to loving Jesus. Come alongside parents as they navigate raising their children with a Jesus-centered approach.

Student Ministries

Help Jr. High and High School students encounter Jesus, train them in Biblical foundations and disciplines, and create fun and lasting memories. Be a part of a safe place for students to come and be loved for who they are and be challenged to grow in their faith.

Worship Ministry

Use your musical talents in helping others be led into the presence of God through worship at our weekend services or in our other ministries.

Communications

Be involved in the process of spreading the love of Jesus through many different avenues, like social media or writing encouraging blog articles, to broadcast what Jesus is doing at Good Shepherd. Use your gifts and passions in the realm of technology by helping to produce high quality audio and video content for the purpose of sharing the love of Jesus with our church and our community.

Ministry to Women

Show Christ’s love to other women by serving in Women’s Bible Study or our ministry to Moms. We have all kinds of opportunities from greeting to mentoring. Christian sisterhood is a vital component for our spiritual growth. In Women’s Bible Study we are looking for greeters, beverage crew, event decor, event set-up, media, worship & parking. In Mom to Mom we need help with our set-up and clean-up, greeting, the beverage station, media and mommy mentors.

Could you or someone you know provide a home for a homeless high school student, which will help finish her education and pursue her goals and dreams? Brook works for Second Home, a program of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) and she is currently working to find a home in the Estacada or Sandy area for an unaccompanied youth who is currently homeless. Please contact Brook if you are interested in learning more and please reach out to your network to see if someone you know might be able to be a part of this transformative work. Faithful Friends

Would you consider sharing the love of Jesus through mentoring a child who lives near you? One of our outreach partners, Faithful Friends match(es) volunteer individuals, couples, or families as mentors to kids ages 6 through 9. The mentor/mentee matches meet 3-4 times each month and commit to at least 1 year.

-21% of kids in matches are in foster care, have been in foster care, and/or have been adopted

-16% of kids in matches are from immigrant/refugee families

-30% of kids have one or more family members who have been or are in prison

-21% of kids have experienced some form of homelessness”

At Good Shepherd we have several from our church family who have been doing this rewarding ministry for a number of years. Right now there are several children in the East Gresham area who are looking for a mentor!! If you live in or near Gresham, would you consider pursuing this? Or if you live in another city but would like to pursue mentoring would you also reach out? You can contact Brianna Wood for more information.

Second Home – Student Support

One of our outreach partners, Second Home*, has reached out to see if we can offer support to one of their students.

Meet Annika Fuller, she is a senior graduating from high school this coming June. Annika has committed to Western Oregon University and plans to study American Sign Language Interpreting and Criminal Justice. Her hope is to achieve interpreter in the Criminal Justice field or just focus in helping deaf people with translation with hearing people. Second Home has graciously set up an Amazon wish list for Annika’s dorm room and are asking for our help. If you feel called to help use the link below! Thank you for your graciousness and time to help Annika get ready for her journey into college!

*Second Home is an outreach that matches volunteer host homes with unaccompanied high school students experiencing homelessness. By ensuring that the students have stable housing and ongoing support, they can focus on completing their secondary education and realize their full gifts and potential.

Eagle Fern Camp Needs Counselors

Eagle Fern is still in need of more counselors this summer. Volunteers form the majority of the summer program staff here at Eagle Fern. They know that volunteering at camp is an exciting and rewarding experience. The experience will both challenge and build your own relationship with God and give you the opportunity to share Jesus’ love with campers and transform lives for God’s glory.

If you are interested, you can sign up to volunteer for a week of counseling below.

globally

Global Outreach is our extension of sharing the gospel to the ends of the earth. We strongly support our Global Outreach Staff who have accepted the call to full-time missionary work. We also strive to educate the church about the various needs of our global partners so we can pray specifically and give generously. We also provide opportunities to join God in what He is doing throughout the world through short-term mission teams.
