Meet the Team

Local Outreach

The Local Outreach Team is responsible for coordinating our efforts in the local community – specifically Rockwood. This team works hard to build bridges strong enough to carry the weight of the Gospel. This team is led by Alan Hlavka, Executive Pastor of Outreach and Care. If you’d like to contact the team, please call the front office or send them an email.

Kristi Knifong

Local Outreach Administrator

Kristi has been attending Good Shepherd since 1992 after meeting her husband Jason at Capernwray Bible School in England. Kristi and Jason have been married for 25 years and live on a farm in Boring. Jason is an electrical foreman for PGE. They have six children ranging in age from 20 to 8. Their oldest, Jaime Lyn, is pursuing long-term missions and is currently in Kenya completing a bachelors degree from Bethany Global University. Her second, Brie Ella lives in Athena Oregon where she works and enjoys riding her horse. Hogen, Ben and Mary all attend Good Shepherd School and the youngest, Charlotte, attends Naas Elementary.

Kristi loves to motivate others to use their gifts and passions to further God’s kingdom. She enjoys having her hand in the creative process; whether it’s graphics, or putting together an event such as this weekend’s Stronger Together Marriage Event or Davis Serve. She loves coffee and running, but not at the same time.

Bob Coppock

Local Outreach Coordinator

Bob grew up in Ellensburg, WA, and decided he wanted to “a minister” at about age 6 or 7. He attended Whitworth College where he met his wife, Elizabeth. Bob served in pastoral ministry for 40 years in WA, OR, CA, and Minnesota. While in seminary, Bob also served as a pastoral intern in the largest Presbyterian Church in the world (at that time) in Seoul, Korea—living with and working among Korean people. What a challenging and worldview expanding experience.

Six years ago, Bob and Elizabeth retired and moved from California to Oregon. They were invited to GSCC by their Happy Valley neighbors, Tom & Racky Souter. Alan Hlavka met them at the door that day and they’ve never gone anywhere else since. For the past five years Bob has served on the Local Outreach team in our Global Outreach department. His chief responsibilities are to help vet and connect our Local Outreach team to ministry possibilities in Rockwood and encourage existing local GS ministries. He considers it a great joy to work alongside Alan Hlavka, Kristi Knifong and the whole Global Outreach staff.

Bob and Elizabeth have three sons, three daughters-in-law, and now four exceptional grandchildren. Bob said “I’m not exaggerating, folks! Just being an honest grandpa!”  Bob has taught piano to 3 of the 4 grandchildren and stays active by swimming. He aims to clock a couple miles a week at Cascade Athletic Club. One of his favorite Bible verses expresses his constant ambition and God’s promise: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6) How faithful the Lord has been to His word!
