Thailand Team Update #4

Today was a great day for the Thailand team—a unique day for this trip. Our morning started like any other; we woke up and enjoyed breakfast (and coffee❗️) with our hosts at the dorm. This morning time is always so important for us; it allows us to build our relationships with and show love to the workers at the dorm.
After breakfast, we got ready to head up to the mountain village to visit the villages where the kids are from. The drive up to the mountain is full of amazing views and sounds, from rolling mountains, towering bamboo, terraced rice fields, chirping birds, and roaring cicadas. God’s majesty was clearly seen through his wondrous creation as we weaved through the forest.
This trip to the mountains was a unique one. The whole Seed of Hope ministry, dorm and coffee, has the goal to support not only the kids, but the parents. When we go to the mountain village, we visit the parents and support their coffee ministry. Today was the King’s Birthday in Thailand, which is recognized as a National Holiday. As a result, many of the kids who stay at the dorm are home with their families for the holiday. When we went up to the village today, we were hosted by one of the dorm families. For the first time on one of our trips, we got to visit some of the children in their village. It is very impactful to see where the kids live, and it was very special to see them in their homes with their parents. The village we visited is one of the few Christian villages in the area. We got to visit the church and see how much progress has been made since the first GSCC team came in 2024. The church was just a frame then, but now it is nearing completion. Most of the parents of the kids at the dorm are coffee farmers. We got to try many specialty coffees and try our hand at roasting our own coffee over an open fire. The experience in the mountains is like no other; seeing God’s majesty and these Christ-centered communities is so life-giving.
We ended our day playing games with the students. We played Uno, volleyball, and taught them to play the game Spoons. Another great day here in Thailand. Every day, more children continue to return to the dorm from holiday. Please pray that our team can build relationships with the kids who are here now and be ready to welcome the others back to their home with open arms.
