Greece:EuroRelief Team Update #3

Hello everyone!

Today is a wonderful day and opportunity we have had to serve the Lord. With the weather in the 90s and very humid, one of the biggest priorities of our days has been to drink water. Each morning, we sign in to the main entrance of camp, walk to the briefing area, then worship and pray. It has been such a blessing to start each day of camp with fellowship and conversing with God.

At camp, there are many different roles and tasks that need to be done within the day. Different assignments we have been given include clothing and shoe distribution, food ticket deliveries, welcoming and assisting new arrivals, maintenance within and around camp, education and teaching kids, and more. Today my day included assembling fans, delivering food to new arrivals, picking up trash, and passing out milk for the children. The days get long and hot, but for me it all is worth it, just to see the smile of kids when they get their milk.

Outside of camp, there is a warehouse filled with thousands of boxes of clothes organized by size, gender, and season of weather. We have had the opportunity to organize all the new donations that EuroRelief has received from around the world. This allows the volunteers to have easy access to the clothing items with the right size to the new arrivals at camp.

We have also been volunteering at Peace House, which is a Christian ministry that allows refugees to take a break from their lives in camp. The ministry creates a relaxing and more casual environment, serving meals, fostering spiritual conversations, and creating long lasting relationships with the residents. We were able to connect with several residents and their families, and continued to build off of those connections when in camp. It is truly incredible to witness a ministry that solely focuses on relationships with residents.

We always need extra prayer, and my first request is to continue to build positive relationships with other volunteers and staff members. As we say goodbye, pray that we are able to finish the week strong with joy and energy. Pray for our team connection and debrief, and for our safety when traveling!

God bless,

Lucy

P.S. We took some photos that follow the camp guidelines, but we can’t post them online. So be sure to ask us to see them when we get back!
