Argentina Team Update #5

Day Four

Search and Rescue day! We had a last-minute schedule change so Mike Rider could finish up the Forcible Entry prop. So, Darren shared his lesson on Search and Rescue. He was also able to share his testimony with the group and started the day giving the Recruits a great eternal perspective. Several of the Recruits were nodding along with Darren’s story and even came up afterwards to giver their appreciation and let him know that they were Christians as well.

One of the Christians in the group was the head of fire fighter training for the entire Province of Buenos Aires. His name is Ariel and he oversees all training for all the fire fighters. None of us expected him to be there but halfway through today, he came to us and became emotional as he shared his appreciation for what we were teaching and his sadness that he had to leave early due to a scheduling conflict. The gravity of this relationship set in as we all realized that we were interacting with someone that may have the ability for us to connect with all the fire fighters in the entire Province. I have no idea what the future holds or if I will be a part of it, but it is so awesome to see the possibilities and know that I got to be included this far.

While the Recruits were dragging each other all over the rooftop and climbing through windows to perform a search, Ryan completed the repair of the Fire Truck. What a blessing that he gets to be at this end of hundreds of hours of diagnostics and tinkering. He was such a good addition to the team!

At the end of the day, we took a break to walk down the shopping corridor towards the coast before grabbing some dinner at a nearby food court. For all the wives, several of us had conversations about how much we value you and miss you. Also, we are doing our laundry tomorrow. And by “we,” I mean we are paying someone to do it. Impressive, I know.
