Greece: Porto Asto Team Update #6

Hey friends and family!

What an amazing time this camp the last few days has been! This week I clearly saw Christ moving through the hearts of the staff and pouring out into the refugees. It was so evident that He had a purpose for this camp and to see success not necessarily in number of people who came to Christ or people who were involved in the worship, but rather in the care and support and God glorifying love that was given to the refugees at the hotel and the property in contrast to the refugee camps they stay at with all kinds of discomforts and fears. The parents were able to feel rested and safe having us care for their kids and provide time for them to rejuvenate. This morning we wrapped up the camp with some time for everyone involved in the camp as well as the campers to share their gratitude and parting words for the staff, volunteers, and campers. It was a bittersweet experience of remembering all the amazing times we had with each and every person involved with the camp and having to say goodbye to the people and family it felt like we had just started to form unforgettable relationships with. The memories of swimming with the families, hearing other people’s stories coupled with a delicious meal, and connecting with our amazing team each morning are truly lasting memories, and I think we all can attribute that to God’s blessings for the camp and our time with each other as a team. This evening we reached our final destination near Marathon Greece, where we will debrief together as a team and experience Athens and Corinth the next few days!

Prayer requests:

  • Pray for the hearts of the refugees to remain open. Also pray that God would protect them as they go back to the refugee camps.
  • Pray for safe travels and rest for our team as we debrief the next couple days; and pray for continued unity in our final days.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support! God is so Good!
