Greece:Samos Team Update #8

Hello fellow, prayer warrior!

We continue our focus on the town of Pythagorio on the island of Samos. The town gets its name from the ancient resident, Greek philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoras. He lived in 500 BC and he is best known for the Pythagorean Theorem. The town on the  Aegean Sea is now full of shops, restaurants, and boats.

Today three of us walked down the main street and prayed for every shop in business. Our hearts are heavy for the friendly Greek people. We want the people of Samos to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We pray for the beginning of a Bible study here.

The other three of us revisited to shop owners. They each recognized us right away and warm conversations ensued. Demetrious, among other things, sells pottery. He works seven days a week during the six months of the summer season. The government takes a large portion of his profits and taxes. We prayed with him during our first visit this time we gave him a card which describes how to watch the free Jesus movie in Greek. We also gave him our phone number and said we would be excited to hear what he thought of the movie.

Anasrasanos, Sanos for short, had olive wood, writing pens, and other creations in his shops. I asked Sonos if he had a coffee grinder and he said “no, but if you are going to be here for a few weeks, I’ll make you one!”  he works 14 hours a day, seven days a week during the summer season. He closes his shot for three hours during the heat of the afternoon. He takes his shop to Belgium for November and December and does pretty well during the Christmas season. We also gave Sonos a card on how to watch the free movie and our phone number, as well. We all hoped to see each other again someday.

Please pray with us for Demetrius and Sonos. Pray that they will watch the Jesus movie and realize the truth of the gospel. Pray that God will send others to help draw them to Christ.

Thank you for your prayers!
